Private midwife in Oslo: Fertility, Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum

Becoming a parent starts as a feeling and an idea, and it stays with us for the rest of our lives. At Femiliarise, I offer midwifery care for every step of this journey, from preparing for pregnancy to the first year with your baby.

Fertility and preparing for pregnancy

Getting to know your body is one of the best ways to prepare for pregnancy. Whether you have just started trying or have been trying for a while, a fertility consultation gives you time, clear information and advice tailored to you.

During the consultation, we will:

  • Identify your menstrual cycle pattern and your fertile window
  • Understand how your cycle works and what your body needs
  • Discuss nutrients, exercise and lifestyle, with individualised advice

This consultation is also useful if you are planning fertility treatment, such as IVF, or egg freezing.

Pregnancy Care (Svangerskapskontroll)

Pregnancy is a time of big changes, in your body and in your life. With the same midwife throughout your pregnancy, you have steady support as your baby grows and birth comes closer.

Your pregnancy care follows the guidelines of the Norwegian Directorate of Health (weeks 8–12, 24, 28, 32, 36, 38 and 40), and you can book extra appointments whenever you need them.

Each appointment includes:

  • Your health and your baby’s growth
  • Blood tests through HELFO
  • Information and exercises to prepare you for birth
  • Time for your questions and concerns
  • Continuity of care with your own midwife

If a health concern needs closer follow-up, you will be referred to specialist care, while your midwife support continues alongside. For a deeper conversation about a specific topic, you can also book a separate midwife consultation.

Postpartum care and 6-week check

The first weeks with a newborn are full of new feelings, questions and changes. The postpartum period, or fourth trimester, is a time of healing and adjusting, and recovering physically and emotionally can take up to a year.

After birth, you can choose one to three home visits or appointments at Vitalklinikken.

Each appointment includes:

  • Health checks for you and your baby
  • Blood tests after birth when needed, through HELFO
  • Help with breastfeeding, bottle-feeding or combination feeding
  • Support with newborn care
  • Pelvic floor recovery support

The 6-week postnatal check follows up your physical and emotional recovery, your pelvic floor, and your baby’s development and feeding. Book it on its own at Vitalklinikken or together with your home visits.

If a health concern for you or your baby needs closer follow-up, you will be referred to specialist care, while your midwife support continues alongside.

Birth preparation

Labour is the journey. Preparation is the map. This interactive birth preparation covers how birth works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level, and how to create a birth space that fits your needs, wherever you give birth.

It is for you whether:

  • This is your first baby or you have given birth before
  • You are planning a natural birth or a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC)
  • You have had a difficult birth experience

I share the knowledge and tools from my international midwifery practice, and you create your own birth plan. See the upcoming birth preparation course dates.

If you prefer one-to-one support, you can book private birth preparation for you and your partner, or prepare step by step through your pregnancy care.
